HOW CAN I BE SPRAYED AT HOME?

Easy!! I am a fully qualified and insured mobile spray tanning business.  Gone are the days that you have to worry about parking spaces, travelling on a bus or even walking down the street with no make-up on after a spray tan.  We take all that worry away by applying your spray tan in the comfort of your own home of office, where ever is suitable for you.  I have my own portable spray tanning cubicle that will pop up in your desired location.

I use the very latest equipment -  HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) spray tanning system which improves the quality of the spray tan and dramatically decreases the tanning time.

Upon my arrival you will have an initial consultation to establish your tanning requirements and spray choice.  I  will then spray a fine and even mist of sunspray as you stand in the cubicle.  This can  take up to 10 minutes and drying time can be another 10 minutes, depending on the room temperature.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The active ingredient in our sunspray, Dihydroxyacetone or (DHA) for short, causes a chemical reaction with the amino acids on the outer most layer of the skin.  This reaction causes the colour of the skin to change, producing a beautifully natural tan.  DHA starts to react with the skin within 2 hours of the tan application and continues to do so for a total of 12 hours, after which time you can wash.

HOW LONG DOES A SPRAY TAN LAST?

Depending on a person's activities and skin type, the tan realistically lasts between 7 - 10 days and will fade gradually, like a natural tan.  With follow up applications, a person can maintain the tan indefinately.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A SPRAY TAN SESSION?

For the maximum result, it is advised to exfoliate the night before your appointment (not on the day of application).  This will remove dead skin cells, helping to promote even coverage and lengthens the duration of your tan.  It is best to shave/wax at least 8 hours before your appointment. Make sure your skin is free of make-up, moisturisers, perfumes, oils, deodorants and gels as these act as barriers to the spray and stops the process from being fully completed, reducing the quality of the application.

 WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Whatever you are comfortable with, I supply disposable g-strings to minimise tan lines.  Otherwise an old dark bikini.  What is important is your comfort level.  Attire for men is boxers, swim trunks or shorts.  Dark loose fitting clothing should be worn after a spray tan in order to avoid your tan becoming patchy.  Naturasun washes out of most clothing very easily but tends to stain nylon and lycra materials, therefore dark coloured underwear is recommended.  Also, remove all jewellery (and don't put it back on until a few hours after your tan)!

WHEN SHOULD I WASH OFF MY SPRAY TAN?

Wait at least 10 - 12 hours before washing the tan off; you need to allow enough time for the reaction to take place.  Showering sooner may diminish the intensity of the tan.

CAN A SPRAY TAN BE REMOVED?

The colour produced by a tan does not wash off; it simply fades as the upper layers of the epidermis wear away.  You can try to speed the exfoliation process by gently scrubbing the skin with a washcloth or loofah sponge.  DO NOT OVER SCRUB!  It may take a week or more for the “tanned” skin to disappear. Otherwise go for a swim at your local pool as chlorine is a great exfoliant!

 IS A SPRAY TAN SAFE?

YES!  According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective products available are sunless or self-tanning products that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. It is declared safe and suitable for use in cosmetics and drugs used to colour the skin.  DHA is a commonly used cosmetic.  DHA is not absorbed into the blood stream and poses no possibility of toxicity.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I INHALE ANY OF THE TAN MIST?

While no one should purposely inhale or ingest the tan mist, it is known that DHA is a non-hazardous compound and causes no adverse reaction in moderate quantities when applied topically or even ingested. Testing has further shown that DHA is less toxic than aspirin, caffeine and even common table salt.

WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE OF A SPRAY TAN OVER UV TANNING?

Airbrush tanning is an alternative form of tanning.  People with sensitive skin or people who have a hard time tanning, be it natural or in tanning beds will find this form of tanning very comforting.  One application with airbrush tanning will be equivalent to approximately 6 tanning bed sessions, there for making it cost effective.  Airbrush tanning also spares the skin of excessive wear and tear and free from potential burns caused by the sun or tanning beds. Sun beds and excess sun exposure causes early aging of the skin your skin will have a leather feel which no amount of moisturising cream can correct.

DOES A SPRAY TAN PROVIDE SPF PROTECTION?

No! Spray Tans do not provide any sunscreen protection, so you should apply sunscreen accordingly.

Nails

How Long Will They Last?

The less pressure put on your new nails, the longer they will last. Just playing with a paper clip by bending it back and forth will eventually break it, so will your nails. They can only take so much pressure before they crack and/or break so treat your new nails with the same care that you would if your natural nails were the same length. Remember nail enhancements are extensions of your own nail and not a nail transplant.

Your new nails will need to be maintained every 2 to 3 weeks. Maintenance work includes re-filing and re-shaping of the nail, repair of any breakage, cracking, or lifting, fill-in and rebalance of new growth, and polish and nail art, if desired. When you do come in for any nail service, please remove your polish before your appointment. By having your nails regularly maintained, you will avoid most of the problems associated with artificial enhancements.

Caring for Your New Nails at Home

In caring for your new nails, you may need to modify some bad habits. Your new nails are strong, but not unbreakable. You’ll need to treat them properly to keep them looking great for a long time.

1.Be very deliberate when using your hands. Start using the ball of your finger and your knuckles instead of your nails.

2.Always use the proper tool! Your nails were NOT created to be used as a screwdriver, can opener, and the ultimate-unwedger-of-all-things!

3.The nails should never be clipped, picked, nipped, or pulled off. That will guarantee damaged nails! .Do not try to remove them.

4.Do not put your nails in harsh chemicals such as cleaning products. Wear gloves when gardening, washing dishes, and any heavy duty cleaning.

5. Use acetone free varnish remover. It is important not to change your polish more than once a week. Polish removers can leave deposits on your nail product, which can eventually cause the product to deteriorate and cause breakage and lifting.

6.If any area of lifting is noticed (a white area under the overlay) return for repair. Do not leave it as water can get under and get trapped, which may cause bacteria to get under the enhancement. If any other changes are noticed such as discolouration, redness or a rash on the skin, return immediately.

7.Apply hand cream whenever you wash your hands. Try not to use products that contain mineral oils.
